REQUIREMENTS FOR BOUND WORK
COVERS
1) The Grain direction for all covers must run from head to tail 2) Trims on covers must exceed trims on text head and foot by at least 2mm 3) Covers over 300gsm may have to be supplied scored 4) Inside spine and hinge area MUST BE CLEAR of all inks, seals, varnishes etc
TEXT
1) For best results the grain should run head to foot 2) All flat sheets must have side lay and grip edge clearly marked 3) Sections for Thread Sewn work must have a LOW FOLIO LIP of at least 10mm (this is not required for any other type of binding) 4) Any 4pp sections in sewn book must be wraps or tips at front or back of book
IF YOU SUPPLY FOLDED SECTIONS THESE MUST BE NEATLY STACKED ON PALLETS
SPECIFIC BINDING REQUIREMENTS
SEWN work must not be perforated on spine BURST bound sections must have the burst binding slot inserted during folding PERFORATIONS in the heads of sections must be secure & not subject to splitting during binding PERFECT bound & PUR bound sections should not be perforated in spine – if this cannot be avoided only use small peforators to ensure paper will not split No section must be more than 305mm wide 25mm trim is the maximum trim for foredge & tail of sections All sections of a job should be the same size
